Features Game of Life
The Game of Life is a cellular automaton originally created by British mathematician John Conway in 1970.The Game of Life is a simulation.
The "world" is made up of square cells that can have one of two states: alive or dead.
Each cell has 8 adjacent neighbor cells.
Every turn, or cycle, each cell counts the number of it's live neighbors.
Then, the following rules are applied to every cell:
- Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbors dies - Any live cell with two or three live neighbors lives - Any cell with more than three live neighbors dies - Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbors becomes live
As this cycle continues, the display is updated and seemingly comes to life!
Shapes grow and disappear.
Patterns oscillate, or reproduce, creating yet other patterns.
The results are pretty fascinating!!
The Game of Life gives you control over several settings including:
- Board size- Simulation Speed- Cell color- Background color
You can also touch the screen to draw your own images and then bring them to Life!
Or load one of several pre-built "Life Forms" and see what they do.
